Distil Co-working is a new, collaborative studio space based in the centre of Bristol, in the iconic St. Nicolas Market (known locally as St. Nick's). The founders of Distil wanted a brand which conveyed inclusivity, diversity and professionalism, while portraying the laid back environment of the workspace. The brand had to reflect the heritage of the building while appealing to a modern generation of creatives and freelancers.

THE SOLUTION

The name, Distil, was influenced by the history of the building - having been a bar and hotel for many years - but also by the craft gin distillery (Bristol Dry Gin) who occupy the basement of the building. It also signifies the distillation of new relationships, collaborations and ideas, which can flourish within the workspace. ORCA created a brand identity which reflected the natural tones and materials used in the space, and the subtle light that decorates the walls. The icon itself was inspired by patterns created on the walls each day by the sun streaming through the iconic, industrial-iron supported glass arcade roof. An iconic mark for an iconic building.

ORCA were recommended to us by a contact and from the start we were impressed by how quickly they appeared to grasp what we were looking for and by their genuine enthusiasm for the project. Their project management was excellent, from contracting to initiation and final delivery, the combination of the software they used to track progress and a designated project manager made the process very transparent. The brand they developed for us was exactly what we'd hoped for. Furthermore, the whole team were friendly and approachable and we're looking forward to sharing our launch with them in months to come. We'd definitely work with them again and would absolutely recommend them to others.
