Introduction

ORCA is a purpose-driven challenger brand agency based in Bristol. We empower brands to be better through emotionally driven brand and digital strategy services. We aim to create lasting change, challenge perceptions and always deliver results.

We're a close-knit bunch of obsessively creative, driven individuals who thrive on a challenge. We believe in culture first, which in turn encourages a great output, happy people and long-standing client relationships. We support collaboration and personal expression, encouraging the team to challenge themselves daily and try new things. We have built a fun, enjoyable and relaxed working environment, and we believe this is reflected in the quality of our work.

We are committed to improving diversity, equity, and inclusion within the business.

ORCA seeks a proactive, ambitious and solutions-oriented Strategist, with strong previous experience, to join the team. You will be responsible for identifying key areas of opportunity within each brief and crafting compelling brand stories and campaigns that deliver results for our clients and for our own brand. You should be a digital native and strategic thinker with a knack for uncovering hidden insights and opportunities across a brand’s environment.

You will have strong research skills, an analytical mindset and a playful, creative outlook. You will be an integral part of the meeting, briefing and creative process; inputting your ideas into new brands, campaigns and strategies and ensuring the strategy is adhered to throughout the creative process.

We’re looking for someone who is

  • Passionate about challenger brands, animation and digital design
  • Aligned with our company values; passionate about ethics, environment and DE&I
  • Able to confidently and articulately share your ideas and thought process with both client and colleagues, in an impassioned and engaging way
  • Excellent at creative thinking and problem solving - identifying challenges and opportunities for our clients' brands
  • A great storyteller and excellent presenter, writer and communicator who is able to construct a strong and persuasive argument with logic and imagination
  • Brilliant at time management and task prioritisation
  • Detail focussed with the ability to understand and implement key strategic methodologies into your work
  • Able to uncover and utilise relevant data and analytics to inform the strategic direction
  • Able to build solid relationships with client accounts to skillfully and confidently inform strategic business decisions
  • A self-motivated and proactive storyteller with real passion and drive to deliver results

What you’ll do

  • Get under the skin of our clients' businesses; understanding their pain-points, their needs and their customers’ needs
  • Design and facilitate immersion workshops to deliver insightful findings
  • Play a key role in running strategic projects that deliver transformational outcomes for our clients
  • Work closely with our Creative Managing Director to create the ‘big ideas’ that underpin campaigns, pitches, proposals and the strategic direction the business should take
  • Undertaking desk-based research and managing primary research with our clients and partners
  • Collaborating with the creative, digital, marketing and account management teams to deliver outstanding brand, creative and marketing campaigns
  • Working on strategic new business initiatives that may include writing opinion/thought pieces, podcasts, talks, our social content and webinars
  • Exploring our clients’ objectives and spotting new business opportunities to deliver value
  • Pushing the agency’s offering in new and exciting directions
  • Define target audiences, demographics, cultural sectors and other customer groups to influence effective strategies
  • Analyse data trends and consumer behaviour
  • Gather market research and results to identify strengths, weaknesses and opportunities and aid meetings, pitches and workshops
  • Provide recommendations for growth based on research results and analytics
  • Ensure ideas are realistic and achievable and seek to find the best solution within the timeframe and budget
  • Assist in the delivery and management of each project, including liaising directly with the client

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a creative studio environment
  • An awareness of strategic frameworks and analytical tools to assist your output
  • An insatiable curiosity and hunger to develop
  • A detailed understanding of the branding process and its power to facilitate change
  • An ambition to drive ORCA forward as a business
  • A deep awareness of current events, cultural shifts and human triggers

What you’ll get in return

  • 21 days annual holiday (which increases with length of service) plus your birthday and the Christmas shutdown period off
  • Profit sharing bonus scheme
  • Employee referral scheme with cash incentives
  • Private health care
  • Monthly team lunches
  • Training and inspiration budget
  • Summer trip
  • Annual salary increases to reflect both performance and inflation
  • Company pension scheme
  • In-house and remote working opportunities
  • Flexitime
